FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ARLIS/NA Announces the Winner of the 2018 Wolfgang M. Freitag Internship Award

OAK CREEK, WI (March 5, 2018)—The Art Libraries Society of North America (ARLIS/NA) recognizes Anna Hurwitz with the Wolfgang M. Freitag Internship Award for 2018.

Anna is a second year MLIS student at the University of Washington pursuing a career in art librarianship. Although she has almost 30 years of experience working with nonprofit arts organizations as an art event producer, this degree marks a significant career change for Anna, which was inspired by her work with the archives at the Center on Contemporary Art in Seattle. The award will support an internship in Seattle that will advance Anna’s skills in archival collections processing for both analog and digital materials.

ARLIS/NA accepts applications for its annual Internship Award each fall. The Wolfgang M. Freitag Internship Award provides support for students preparing for careers in art or architecture librarianship or visual resources curatorship with a grant of $3,000.00 to support a 150-hour internship in an art- or architecture-related setting such as a library, archive, or visual resources collection.

This year’s award was presented at ARLIS/NA’s 46th annual conference in New York City, held February 25-March 1, 2018. The members of the ARLIS/NA Wolfgang M. Freitag Internship Award Sub-Committee were: Jasmine Burns (chair), Elizabeth Ehrnst, Anna Helgeson, Mario Ascencio, and Suzanne Rackover.
