ARLIS/NA Announces Winners of the 2018 Member Research Awards

OAK CREEK, WI (March 5, 2018)—The Art Libraries Society of North America (ARLIS/NA) is pleased to announce the winners of two ARLIS/NA research awards for individual members, the Worldwide Books Award for Publications and the H. W. Wilson Foundation Research Award.

The Worldwide Books Award for Publications recognizes outstanding publications by ARLIS/NA individual members in librarianship or visual resources curatorship and the arts. By recognizing special achievement in these areas this award acknowledges and encourages scholarly publication by the ARLIS/NA membership. The 2018 winner is The Handbook of Art and Design Librarianship, 2nd edition, edited by Paul Glassman and Judy Dyki.

The H. W. Wilson Foundation Research Award supports research activities by ARLIS/NA individual members in the fields of librarianship, visual resources curatorship, and the arts with grants toward future or in-progress research projects. The award encourages the professional development of the ARLIS/NA membership in their capacities as information intermediaries and as subject specialists in the arts. The winners for 2018 are Kai Alexis Smith, Laurel Bliss, and Ann Roll for their project “Building Bridges with CSU Art and Performing Arts Librarians.”

Both awards were presented at the 46th annual ARLIS/NA conference held February 25 – March 1, 2018 in New York City. The members of the ARLIS/NA Research Awards Sub-Committee were: Lindsey Reynolds (Chair), Amy Furness, Adam Beebe, Breanne Crumpton, and Megan Williams.
