I do speak to the editors at least twice a year to give feedback, and I know that others are also in contact. I was given a preview of the site and said it looked fine, not perfect but an improvement. I suspect OUP knows the timing isn’t ideal, but the previous sites were so old they were unsupported and unstable. OUP has been working on this new platform for about 2 years. Feedback from many sources (including mine) pointed to the conclusion that the new platform was a good effort and they went ahead with the launch rather than risk site problems by continuing on an antiquated and unstable platform. I am confident that Oxford will review the issues that have been brought up and work to improve both the interface and the product.

I know they are trying their best to build a good site so if you have feedback, email the editors directly at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>. For many years I have thought that OUP should devote more resources to this valuable product. In my opinion it is significantly under resourced, but still maintains its preeminence as a key resource.

Confusion? Oxford had to know the repercussions this denial of access for academic subscribers would cause. Or they are totally ignorant of (at least) the US university/college semester system.
I agree with Ann Skiold comment about JSTOR. Its format has changed so much from its initial debut which had a really useful advance search & excellent displayed subject tags which controlled the relevance sort & told you volumes about what the article was really about. Increasingly I find the interfaces of databases to be less research friendly.

Upon viewing it, I immediately called to express my concern. I was told that Oxford is aware of confusion with the login box on the left, and there are hopefully plans to at least minimize it. I am hoping calling or emailing Oxford Art Online directly may help initiate changes to some of the more problematic elements of the layout and functionality.

I dislike the interface a lot. It is very difficult to navigate and to me it looks much like JSTOR. Many lovely feature have been omitted or I have perhaps not found them. ARTstor also changed their interface and not for their better a while ago. Can we as librarians ask why they changed it and voice out opposition?
