Here’s what I’ve noticed so far that will be confusing to our users: Some of this may be specific to our particular subscription situation:

1.       There is no advanced search to begin.

2.       Users must put in a query to a get a side bar that limits options.

3.       Benezit Dictionary of Artists and  Grove Dictionary of Art are the only collections currently included in the new edition as search options.

4.       Oxford Companion to Western Art, Encyclopedia of Aesthetics and Concise Oxford Dictionary of Art Terms previously included as search choices, are no longer appear to be included in the search interface options. Note that the Oxford Art Online About page http://www.oxfordartonline.com/page/about does have links to them, but I will need to find out if they intend on including them in the pull-down options in the future.

5.       Those databases (but not Grove or Benezit) are in our subscription to Oxford Reference Online https://search.library.cmu.edu/link/http://www.oxfordreference.com  by choosing “Subject” tab and choosing the “Art & Architecture” link.

Subject: Re: [ARLIS-L] New Oxford Art Online interface?

I had not paid much attention to this.  But, this morning, I was trying to help a music grad student with a question related to Schubert.  Went to OMO.  Ugh.  Much more difficult to navigate.

Does anyone have an opinion about the new Oxford Art Online interface?  I understand the music librarians are very unhappy about Oxford UP did to the Oxford Music Online interface, especially right at the end of the semester.  I actually dislike whatever OUP does in terms of interfaces - don't even get me started on the horror that is Oxford Scholarly Editions Online.  I don't think the new interface is either better or worse than before.  Any thoughts?
