Dear ARLIS/NA community,
As you may be aware, ARLIS/NA concluded and released the
preliminary results of the Census of Art Information Professionals in the spring of 2017. We are currently seeking volunteers to serve on the Census Data Analysis Task Force to conduct further analysis on the collected data. The task force will also make
recommendations for next steps or future best practices in census data collection. The deliverables will be two reports: the first (due in August) will identify further cross-tabulations to be conducted and identify other organizations or reports to be used
in benchmarking. The completed data analysis report will be due in January 2018.
If you are interested in serving on this task force, please complete the volunteer form by July 7, 2017:

ARLIS/NA Census Data Analysis Task Force
Charge
The ARLIS/NA Census Data Analysis Task Force will conduct further analysis on data collected in the Census for Art Information Professionals. The goals of this Task Force include:
·
Conducting more in-depth cross-tabulations of data presented in the Preliminary Report of the Census;
·
Benchmarking data collected in the Census against data collected by related organizations or groups;
·
Creating a report that includes recommendations for next steps or future best practices in census data collection
Timeline & Deliverables
One plan of analysis, which will outline which cross-tabulations will be performed and identify other organizations to be used in benchmarking, will be submitted to the Executive Board for consideration by August 2017. The completed report
is due in January 2018 and should address questions such as the following: What trends or snapshots in education, employment, demographics, or professional engagement among art information professionals should ARLIS/NA be aware of? How does ARLIS/NA compare
with other organizations in libraries, museums, or art education? What questions should we ask in future surveys? How often should we perform a census? Should ARLIS/NA utilize professional consulting services to perform data analysis in the future?
Task Force chair and members:
Conduct an open call and application process to identify current or would-be ARLIS/NA members with the appropriate skills, experience, and interest. One member of the Task Force (may be ex officio) should be a member of the Diversity Committee.
