Dear ARLIS/NA Members,

As both a member of ARLIS/NA and the National Association of Watch and
Clock Collectors (NAWCC), I'm pleased to share with you an important
conference which addresses the depiction of horology (i.e. time keeping) in
works of art. *The Horology in Art Symposium* will be held at the Museum of
Fine Arts, Boston on October 26-28, 2017.

For more than 30 years, the NAWCC has produced a yearly educational
conference. The 2017 symposium features more than nineteen art-historian
speakers including prominent curators, professors and independent
scholars. These art experts will lecture on their areas of expertise,
using projected images of relevant artworks, followed by clock and watch
experts discussing the depicted timekeepers.

For more information, please see the Symposium website at
http://www.horologyinart.com/,

To get a flavor for the symposium theme, the Symposium Chairman, Bob
Frishman has contributed 32 "Horology in Art" articles to the NAWCC's
official journal, *Watch & Clock Bulletin,* Each article features an
important artwork, and discusses the artist, style, context, and
timekeeper. To see all 32, please visit
http://bell-time.com/articles/articles.html.

Please share this announcement with your colleagues.

Thanks so much,

--
