Greetings Colleagues,

The Visual Resources Division of ARLIS/NA is drafting a workshop proposal for the 2018 Conference titled: Consulting with Artists: Creating, Describing, and Disseminating the Visual Arts. The goal of this workshop is to provide resources and hands-on guidance for art information professionals who are liaising with and providing consultation services to working artists. The topics that will be addressed include copyright/fair use in the visual and performing arts, supporting the aggregation of artwork into an archive (and/or the digitization of work into a digital library), and supporting best practices for image/portfolio management and documentation through robust metadata creation and management.

We are seeking one or more participants to present on artists’ archives (creating and archive/collecting artists’ materials/value of different types of materials), with the goal of offering practical and hands-on resources and workflows, rather than presenting case studies or anecdotes. The topic can be flexible, so long as it fits within the goals of the workshop!

Please email me directly with a statement of interest and how you would like to address this topic by Friday, May 5! The proposal will be submitted on Monday, May 8.

Many thanks,
Jasmine
