 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

INAUGURAL CLASS OF NDSR ART RESIDENTS SELECTED

OAK CREEK, WI (May 2, 2017)-The Art Libraries Society of North America (ARLIS/NA), in partnership with the Philadelphia Museum of Art, have selected four candidates for the inaugural class of the National Digital Stewardship Residency for art information professionals (NDSR Art) program. The residents will begin their twelve-month appointments in July 2017.

NDSR Art is an iteration of the NDSR program that began in 2013, with a pilot project developed by the Library of Congress in conjunction with the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). The residencies will begin with an intensive week-long digital stewardship workshop at the Philadelphia Museum of Art in July 2017. Thereafter, each resident will move to her designated host institution to work on a significant digital stewardship project. Residents will acquire through the program hands-on knowledge and skills involving the conservation and preservation of time-based media, long-term access to digital publications and student artworks, and strategies for capturing and sustaining born-digital art collection-related records. The selected projects will allow the residents to gain valuable career skills in art information sustainability, while also completing work that provides long-term benefits to ARLIS/NA, the host institutions, and the wider preservation communities.
