Dear Colleagues,
The Art Librarian Parents and Caregivers SIG is organizing a session proposal for the 2018 ARLIS/NA Annual Conference on establishing family-friendly policies in libraries, archives, and museums. Do you have a story to share about how you successfully advocated for family-friendly services or negotiated with your employer to create a more accommodating workplace? Would you be willing to summarize your experiences and participate in a Q&A with other librarians and work/life experts? We are seeking panelists to share experiences that ARLIS/NA parents could try at their own institutions.
Topics may include (but are not limited to):
- Negotiating for maternity/paternity leave (paid or unpaid)
- Advocating for maternity leave and other essential benefits
- Lactation space for employees and/or lactation rooms as a library service
- Flex schedules/working from home
- Work/life balance
- Baby-friendly work environments
- Advancing your career while parenting
If interested, please contact Stephanie Fletcher by Monday, April 24th with a brief summary of your experience. We will notify applicants by April 26th and submit the proposal by April 28th.
We look forward to hearing from you!
Best wishes,
Stephanie Fletcher
