Call for Participants: ARLIS/NA 2018 Session, Embedded Art Librarianship Calling all embedded art librarians! * Are you embedded in an art history, studio, or design course? What did your version of “embedded” look like? * What are some of the challenges and successes you have had in your role as an embedded librarian? * How did you build your relationship with the faculty member? * Did you have to clarify your role in the classroom or adjust your teaching style? * What are some of the benefits of embedding a librarian in art and design disciplines? Please share what course(s) you are or have been embedded in, how you built your relationship with the faculty member, your goals and outcomes for the course, how you scaffolded information and/or visual literacy instruction throughout the course, and what methods you used to assess your impact in the course. The session will share experiences being embedded in art and design courses from a diverse group of librarians. We will also share tips on becoming an embedded librarian, as well as suggestions on moving beyond one-shot instruction and making deeper connections with faculty and students in the classroom. I am particularly looking for speakers who will discuss their experiences being embedded in studio art classes, working with graduate students, or primarily working with students online. Timeline Submit your ideas by April 17 I’ll notify you of acceptance by April 21 Panel Proposal will be submitted **no later** than Friday, April 28 Thanks! I look forward to hearing from you!
