Dear colleagues;

 

In accordance with Article X, section 3 of the Bylaws of the Art Libraries Society of North America, I am inviting members of the Society to submit names for consideration for the following positons on the Executive Board:

 

Vice President/President-Elect: Responsible for such matters as are delegated by the President and, in the event of the inability of the President to serve, shall act as chief executive officer. This position is a three year term: the President-Elect shall serve the first year after election as Vice President, the second year as President, and the third year as Past President.

 

               (see p. 8 of the Policy Manual for more details)

 

Treasurer:  Oversees the financial activities of the Society; prepares and proposes the annual budget; makes recommendations to the Board on financial matters; and reviews and approves the Society's annual Federal and state tax returns. This position is a two year term, followed by chairing the Finance Committee.

Canadian Representative: Acts as liaison between the Canadian members and chapters and the Executive Board. Also serves as Chair of the ARLIS/Canada national chapter, which fosters communication and cooperation among Canadian members. This position is a two year term.

               The terms of office will begin at the 2018 ARLIS/NA membership meeting at the annual conference to be held in New York City, February 25th -March 1st.

 

               Nominations may be made by any ARLIS/NA member eligible to vote; a second by another member eligible to vote is required. Self-nominations are encouraged. Qualifying nominations should be filed with the Nominating Committee no more than 60 calendar days from the date of the general announcement (i.e., by June 1, 2016). Please consult the Policy Manual for full position descriptions:

 

               The Nominating Committee may identify other qualified candidates for each office to be filled. The slate of candidates will be announced in the autumn of 2017. Nominations may also be brought to the attention of any one of the committee members. We look forward to hearing from you!
