Kate and all,
A few additional details: JSTOR scanned 100K pages of auction catalogs from our collection (about 85K pages) and from the Frick's (about 15K)-mostly pre-1923 American and British houses. We coordinated the project and the scanning was done at JSTOR's expense at Kirtas in upstate New York.

We received scans back from JSTOR with a five-year embargo on them that expired in early 2014. Subsequently we uploaded all the files we received (about 1,100 catalogs worth) to our Internet Archive collection, where we continue to add digitized auction catalogs. Currently we have over 4,000 catalogs online here: https://archive.org/details/metmuseumlibraries.

Best,
Dan

Subject: [ARLIS-L] Summary: JSTOR Auction catalog project question

To summarize the responses to my Auction catalog question:
I had quite a few people email me lamenting the JSTOR auction catalog project. I learned that the project stalled, and JSTOR lost interest. If anyone has additional thoughts to share, please get in touch.

Subject: [ARLIS-L] JSTOR auction catalog project

I'd love to know more about the history of this JSTOR auction catalog project,
http://auctioncatalogs.jstor.org/<https://na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fauctioncatalogs.jstor.org%2F&data=01%7C01%7Ck.joranson%40pitt.edu%7C4b051a33cceb4498b6fc08d4447aa10e%7C9ef9f489e0a04eeb87cc3a526112fd0d%7C1&sdata=BzzYpqrLqJzEMwmv%2F%2FF2vVJw5TyqEoB3nCbkF4BCC5o%3D&reserved=0>

Can anyone comment on what happened to this? I see press releases online, and brief mentions in the literature, but would like to know more.
Thanks,
Kate
