Hello all, I'm beginning to convert our museum's VHS tapes into DVD and .mp4 for uploading to YouTube. From my experience in college libraries, I know that converting a film which we don't own the copyright is a violation of copyright. However, there are some VHS tapes which arent available (to my knowledge) as DVDs. Some examples would be video presentations of exhibits at other museums. Would it be possible to make copies on DVD or streaming video of such items? By the way, access to these items would be restricted to museum staff and volunteers. Thanks in advance for your advice! -- Seth Allen Volunteer Librarian Knoxville Museum of Art ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mail submissions to [log in to unmask] For information about joining ARLIS/NA see: http://www.arlisna.org/membership/join-arlisna Send administrative matters (file requests, subscription requests, etc) to [log in to unmask] ARLIS-L Archives and subscription maintenance: http://lsv.arlisna.org Questions may be addressed to list owner (Judy Dyki) at: [log in to unmask] ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
