The Art Libraries Society of North America (ARLIS/NA) 45th Annual Conference Arts du Monde will be held February 5-9, 2017 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Seattle’s post-conference survey results asked for programming centered on digital art history, collection development, user experience, instruction, and scholarly communications, and we are happy to report that this conference has innovative and inspiring sessions, individual papers, and workshops that cover these areas and more. Making Collections Accessible: Legal Tools for the 21st Century http://sched.co/8jgK Three leading IP lawyers will present tools and strategies for addressing the intellectual property, privacy and contract rights associated with works Following this session, Dr. Elizabeth Townsend Gard of Tulane and several of her law students will be on hand to demo the Durationator [website: http://www.limitedtimes.com<http://www.limitedtimes.com/>/] During this follow- up session, http://sched.co/8zSv the Tulane team has offered to produce Durationator reports for those who want to bring records of books, art, photographs, periodicals, or archival materials in their collections (detailed instructions forthcoming) How to Develop a Comic Book and Graphic Novel Collection http://sched.co/8kpl This panel will weave together four projects in graphic novel and comic book collection development that provide insight on issues of acquiring, processing, accessing, and archiving these collections.
