This is a reminder that applications for the 2017 Lois Swan Jones Award are due in ONE WEEK on Monday, November 21st (by midnight). The Lois Swan Jones Professional Development award provides $500 in funding to send a Texas-Mexico Chapter member to the ARLIS/NA 45th Annual Conference in New Orleans, February 5-9, 2017. Apply for the award or spread the word to anyone you know – a colleague, friend, or student – who might qualify and would benefit from attending the conference. The award committee urges everyone with interest and need to apply, especially first-time conference attendees. Previous winners are eligible. Primary Requirements for Application: - Applicants must lack full institutional funding for the conference. - Applicant must be a member in good standing of both ARLIS/NA and ARLIS/Texas-Mexico. The award honors the memory of Lois Swan Jones, Professor Emerita of art history at the University of North Texas, by underwriting participation of members of the Texas-Mexico Chapter at the ARLIS/NA annual meeting. Other members of the 2017 committee are Samuel Duncan (Amon Carter Museum of American Art), Beth Dodd (University of Texas, Austin), and last year’s awardee, Sarah Long. The deadline for applications is Monday, November 21, 2016. The award committee will announce the awardee on Friday, December 2, 2016.
