The earlier editions also refer to "primitive" art and have a distinctly Euro- bias. Joan is right that their interest is for those studying the history of art criticism & conosieurship.

Subject: Re: [ARLIS-L] Older editions of to me that the only reason to keep the earlier Janson editons would be if a researcher wanted to compare them. I know the first edition included NO women artists and it was motivational for scholars of women artists. But of course someone who wanted to do that kind of research would probably already know which editions they wanted to look at and could get them on Interlibrary loan. You might want to ask some of your art history faculty—especially women on that faculty. But unless you have a strong graduate program or also recer faculty that have that interest, it doesn’t seem worth the shelf space.

<span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#1F497D">

<span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#1F497D">Joan

<span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#1F497D">

<span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#1F497D">

<span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"">From:<span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif""> ARLIS/NA List [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Eric Kidwell
