Before classes begin, and as I look back on the summer, I want to thank everyone involved with the ARLIS/NA Netherlands Study Tour in June: Michiel Nijhoff, who designed and conducted an incredible tour of 22 cultural heritage sites in 5 days, Rina Vecchiola, who managed most of the fiscal and organizational logistics, Elisa Hansen, who helped with arrangements, the International Relations Committee (Debbie Kempe, current Chair) for fostering these types of tours, and certainly other people, whose role I am not aware of.

I think it is tremendously valuable, at any stage in one’s professional development, to meet exceptional professionals in other countries, obtain direct experience of what they are achieving, watch well-designed libraries in action, and see the places and art that our clients study.

Travel is always a bit expensive, but if you are considering one of the forthcoming ARLIS/NA Study Tours, I suggest that you go for it!
