ARLIS/NA 2017 Annual Conference: Call for Proposals

Deadline for submissions is Friday, June 3, 2016.

The Art Libraries Society of North America (ARLIS/NA) 45th Annual Conference Arts du Monde will be held February 5-9, 2017 in New Orleans, Louisiana. The 2017 Conference Programming Co-Chairs invite librarians, visual and media resource specialists, archivists, curators, museum professionals, educators, artists, designers, architects, historians, researchers, practitioners, students, and others to submit proposals for innovative and inspiring sessions, individual papers, and workshops.

New Orleans is truly an American city like no other, bending along the banks of the Mississippi to meet the Gulf Coast, it draws together the cultures that have created and continue to create the unique architecture, arts, cuisine, history, language, music, and traditions found here. Our conference theme is Arts du Monde encompassing the collaborative, diverse, and global nature of the Crescent City. Potential topics of conversation, drawn from Seattle’s post-conference survey and listed in ranked order, include, but are not limited to:

·        Digital Humanities/Digital Art History

·        Collection Development and Management

·        User Experience

·        Digitization and Preservation of Digital Collections

·        Instruction

·        Arts Outreach across Cultures and Ethnicities

·        Local Art and Architecture

·        Diversity and Inclusivity in the Arts and in Arts Librarianship

·        Resource Sharing

·        Management and Administration

·        Scholarly Communications

·        Library Planning and Design

·        Museum Library Trends

·        Cataloging

·        Preservation

·        International Collections and Collaborations

Please consider sharing your ideas, expertise, and proven strategies with colleagues next February in New Orleans. The Program Planning Committee seeks proposals that engage attendees with active learning opportunities and provide attendees with practical approaches for implementing new ideas and technologies. The Committee encourages submissions from all interested individuals. This year we are excited to pilot a new conference proposal software, Open Conference, which will allow you to save and edit submissions and receive comments from the reviewers. This system will also facilitate a blind, peer-reviewed evaluation process. Calls for Poster Sessions and Moderators will go out in late summer.

Submit your paper, session, and workshop proposals via our online submission form.

Deadline for submissions is Friday, June 3, 2016.
