Serving on the ARLIS/NA Executive Board is an opportunity for members to enhance leadership skills, make lasting contributions to the Society, and foster relationships with colleagues across our membership. As a volunteer organization, ARLIS/NA seeks members with energy and enthusiasm to help shape the future of our professional organization. The Nominating Committee is accepting nominations for the 2017 Executive Board until June 11 (see below for details), and we want to hear from you! If you are interested in an open position or have a talented person in mind, please feel free to contact any of us on the Committee: Lily Pregill, Chair ([log in to unmask]) Roger Lawson ([log in to unmask]) Kathryn Wayne ([log in to unmask]) Eric Wolf ([log in to unmask]) Best, Lily, Roger, Kathryn and Eric​ ------------------------------- Dear colleagues: The 2016 Nominating Committee invites ARLIS/NA members to submit names for consideration for the following Executive Board positions, in accordance with Article IX, Section 3 of the ARLIS/NA bylaws: Vice President/President-Elect: Responsible for such matters as are delegated by the President and, in the event of the inability of the President to serve, shall act as chief executive officer. This position is a three year term: the President-Elect shall serve the first year after election as Vice President, the second year as President, and the third year as Past President. (see p. 8 of the Policy Manual for more details) Secretary: Responsible for keeping the official minute book and Policy Manual of the Society and for distributing the minutes of the Executive Board meetings in a timely manner. The Secretary shall act as the teller for balloting for amendments to the Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws. The Secretary shall serve two years. The ARLIS/NA past-Secretary serves as Documentation Committee Chair for two years following their term on the Executive Board. (see p. 10 and p. 46 of the Policy Manual for more details) Advancement Liaison: Works with the Membership, Development and Diversity committees, reporting on their activities to the Board and reporting on Board decisions to the committee. The Advancement Liaison shall serve two years. (see p. 12 of the Policy Manual for more details) Chapters Liaison: Report the decisions and deliberations of the Executive Board to the chapters after Board meetings, and at other times as necessary. Advocate for chapters' concerns before the Board. The Chapters Liaison shall serve two years. (see p. 13 of the Policy Manual for more details) Education Liaison: Work with the Professional Development Committee and its subcommittees (Education, Educational Technology and Mentoring), reporting on their activities to the Board and reporting on Board decisions to the committees and subcommittees. The Education Liaison shall serve two years. (see p. 14 of the Policy Manual for more details) The terms of office will begin at the 2017 ARLIS/NA Annual Conference to be held in New Orleans, Louisiana, February 5 - 9. Nominations may be made by any ARLIS/NA member eligible to vote; a second by another member eligible to vote is required. Self-nominations are encouraged. Qualifying nominations should be filed with the Nominating Committee no more than 60 calendar days from the date of the general announcement (i.e., by June 11, 2016).
