The Supervising Editor, Foreign Language leads, coaches, and facilitates the activities of editorial employees and freelancers in the enhancement of foreign language material ensuring adherence to internal and external quality and currency requirements.

What you will be doing:

  *   Day-to-day management of foreign language employees and freelancers, including hiring, training, feedback and billing.
  *   Prepares foreign language materials for metadata enhancement by freelancers and in-house employees.
  *   Creates foreign language content enhancement as time allows.
  *   Oversees product training and maintenance of training materials, style guide.
  *   Oversees creation of unique content for publication in online products.
  *   Provides Quality Control on editorial content in products and identifies and escalates content problems as required.
  *   Works in conjunction with Publishing to monitor usage reports.
Qualifications:

  *   Bachelor's degree with very strong foreign language skills, plus 5 years of experience working in an information, academic/research or publishing industry environment.
  *   2 years of experience leading and participating in collaborative projects across teams or organizations.
  *   2 years of professional experience working with non-English languages.
  *   Excellent understanding of English and at least one foreign language, oral and written.
  *   Proficient in the use of the office equipment, Windows-based systems including Microsoft Office, content management systems, and a good working knowledge of web-based tools and services, including the use of search engines.
  *   Effective communication: email, phone, interpersonal.
  *   Strong planning and organizational skills, including ability to track concurrent projects.
  *   Excellent research and problem solving skills, including the ability to analyze, compare, evaluate, and reconcile data with a high degree of concentration.
  *   Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  *   Adaptable to changes in the workplace, including priorities and requirements.
  *   Proven ability at successfully managing people and their work.
  *   Ability to cope with stress brought on by deadlines, changing priorities and procedures, supervising associates, and making decisions.
  *   Ability to assume responsibility for attendance and effective use of time.
  *   Ability to train others and make formal presentations on products and services to salespeople, trainers, customers, professional organizations, businesses, or other clients.
  *   Familiarity with web publishing software.
Ancillary Qualifications:

Qualifications listed below, while not necessarily a requirement for this position in each circumstance, provide additional depth and value to the role.

  *   Master's degree in a foreign language or Library Science with writing, research, curriculum or teaching experience.
  *   Experience with creation, coordination, and maintenance of taxonomies.
  *   Technical skills that include knowledge of XML and document encoding.

  *   This position may be based in the Louisville, KY ProQuest office location.
  *   This position requires weekday (Monday - Friday) attendance with some scheduling flexibility available around core working hours.
