Library Director - Watkins College of Art, Design & Film, Nashville, TN

Watkins College of Art, Design & Film is a regionally and nationally accredited, non-profit, independent college of the visual arts located in Nashville, Tennessee (www.watkins.edu<http://www.watkins.edu/>). Founded in 1886 as a community education resource, the college now offers BFA degrees in fine art, film, photography, graphic design and interior design; an MFA in film production; and a BA in art degree. The library collection supports the art and design curriculum with an emphasis on contemporary art. The library also has a collection of comic books, zines and artists' books, an eclectic collection of DVDs and curated collections of graphic novels and children's illustrated books.

Watkins College of Art, Design & Film seeks an experienced, user-oriented librarian to serve as Library Director. The Library Director is responsible for the administration of all aspects of Library operation, including: collection management - establishing and maintaining a collection development policy, selecting and acquiring all library materials, maintaining relations with vendors and cooperative institutions; serials management, library instruction, budgeting, staff management, strategic planning and institutional effectiveness reporting, and technical services. The Library Director sets the vision and mission for the Library, evaluating collections and services, utilizing resources efficiently and creating services and programs. The director is also co-director of the Watkins Writing Studio and through both entities advances information literacy and life-long learning.

Qualifications:
Master of Library Science Degree from an ALA-accredited school, 3 years experience in academic library setting required. Supervisory experience preferred.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:
*         Knowledge of LC classification standards with copy cataloging experience, original catalog experience preferred
*         Knowledge of library circulation and acquisitions procedures
*         Experience working with vendors, OCLC and interlibrary loan systems, and managing electronic resources
*         Experience in library instruction and acquisitions procedures
*         Strong customer service orientation with good interpersonal skills
