The New Rijksmuseum [film]
http://www.filmstransit.com/index.php?option=com_jmovies&Itemid=70&task=detail&id=290
In 2003 an optimistic start was made with the renovation of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. The Netherlands' major tourist attraction would re-open its doors in fresh splendor in 2008. But alas, right from the start the project was opposed by unyielding counter-forces and Rembrandt's palace was slowly transformed into an apparently permanent building site. To make this unique, prize-winning and epic documentary The New Rijksmuseum - The Film, Oeke Hoogendijk filmed behind the closed doors of the Museum for ten years. What was meant to be a standard-length documentary grew into a four hour epic (two-part) about ambition, love of art, typically Dutch decision-taking processes, and finally culminating with the historic and emotional 'homecoming' of the masterpieces in the spring of 2013.
**The reviewer for New Rijksmuseum will be mailed a physical copy of the DVD to view, which the reviewer can keep or add to their institution's collection.
