If you're traveling to Seattle soon and plan to see Chihuly glass during your visit, you might want for listening material to download this interview with the painter Seaver Leslie about his and Dale Chihuly's Ulysses Cylinders, recently on exhibit at Dublin Castle and at my own institution. Seaver gives a nice sense of that particular project and how it evolved from its beginnings in the early 1970's, and of the craft culture at RISD that spawned it.  And don't forget the Decorative Arts SIG panel on contemporary glass taking  place on Thursday at 3:30.
