ARLISIANS,
I just wanted to make you aware of the diversity related sessions at the Annual Conference and about the Diversity Committee meeting.
Please see details below:
ARLIS/NA Diversity CommitteeThursday, March 10 • 8:30am - 9:30am
The meeting is open to the membership. Feel free to attend to meet the new committee and chair and to learn about initiatives and communicate concerns.
Don't miss the Diversity Committee sponsored events:
Featuring speaker and facilitator the Associate University Librarian at Washington University St. Louis, Trevor Dawes.
Participants will learn about current issues facing librarianship within the context of diversity and further how art librarianship fit into it. Participants should be prepared to actively engage in group learning experiences and will take away tips on how to move forward with diversity and inclusion issues in the workplace and ARLIS/NA.
The speakers will share strategies and best practices for meeting the challenges of safeguarding and providing access to these collections and exhibitions while acknowledging divergent perspectives. Together speakers and participants will explore how to achieve a balance between intellectual freedom/freedom of expression and the need to respect the views of historically marginalized and disadvantaged groups.
More Diversity related sessions include:
