Seattle Reigns!
First time in Seattle, or think you know Seattle (Pike/Pine neighborhood, ever heard of it?). The
2016 AASL Annual Conference offers a variety of tours exploring diverse corners of the city.
Check these out:
Thursday March 10. 3:30-6pm
Cost: $25. Limited to 20 participants.
Pioneer Square: From Wilderness to Metropolis
Two-hour walking tour which explores the birthplace of modern Seattle and its first downtown.
Friday March 11. 1:10-2:50pm
These tours run concurrently. Free with conference registration.
Option 1: Pike Place Market
One-hour walking tour that will take you inside the main thoroughfares of the Market as well as the Lower Levels where hidden treasures await.
Option 2: Seattle Public Library
One-hour tour of the library’s architecture and the use of floors and spaces.
Saturday March 12. 10:30am-12:30pm
Free with conference registration.
University of Washington Campus Architecture Tour: Building a Polyvalent Campus: 1895-2015
Two-hour walking tour which will survey the architectural history of the campus.
Saturday March 12. 4-6:30pm
Free with conference registration.
Pike/Pine: Change on an Urban Scale
Two-hour walking tour of an area known as the center of Seattle’s counterculture, this urban neighborhood is in the midst of a building boom.
Sunday March 13 9:30am-12pm (includes travel time to and from Seattle Center)
Cost: $20.00. Limited to 20 participants.
Future Remembered: Tour of Seattle Center
One and one half hour walking tour of the site of The 1962 Seattle World’s Fair — Century 21 Exposition.
