Learn how to salvage wet items of all types in your collection. Detailed, step-by-step instructions will provide participants with the knowledge to salvage books, paper, photographs, film, textiles, sound and video recordings, and much more. In-class exercises and homework assignments allow participants to put their new-found knowledge to use.

Learning Objectives:

*        Identify the main methods of recovery involved in salvaging wet materials.

*        Categorize wet materials by priority.

*        Recall and apply salvage techniques for various types of materials.

*        Discriminate between items that can and cannot be salvaged.


Target Audience: Librarians, archivists, staff at cultural heritage institutions, and any individuals who are interested in learning how to salvage wet materials in their collections.

Prerequisites: None
Homework Expectations and Completion Requirements:
Students will participate in class discussion and complete individual assignments.

It is designed for individual participation; each individual must register.
