Visual Resources Association Foundation Announces 2015 Project Grant Winners

The Board of Directors of the Visual Resources Association Foundation is pleased to announce the presentation of its 2015 VRAF Project Grants to project team Sheryl Frisch and Greg Reser, and to Fatehmeh Baigmoradi. The amount of each award is $1500.

Sheryl Frisch of California Polytechnic State University and Greg Reser of University of California, San Diego, will use their award to support the continued development of MetaShotPpt, an application that transfers embedded metadata into PowerPoint presentations. They will use Visual Studio software to develop this newest version of MetaShotPpt as a standalone, executable, cross-platform program with the robust feature set previously only available in the Mac version. We are confident that this tool will have broad value and impact within the visual resources community and beyond.

Fatemeh Baigmoradi, M.F.A. student in photography at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, will use her award to continue her work developing an image archive of Iranian contemporary art, with an emphasis on photography. Working with the Bunting Visual Resources Library, Fatemeh has already introduced more than 60 artists and 500 digital images to the collection, and anticipates adding several hundred more images of the work of additional artists over the coming year. Ultimately, this exciting project aims to provide broad, public access to the work of artists who are underrepresented in traditional databases and to promote greater intercultural exchange, and do so at the highest standard.

The purpose of the VRA Foundation’s Project Grant is to provide support for projects in the field of visual resources and image management.  Please visit vrafoundation.org for more information.
