On behalf of the International Relations Committee of ARLIS/NA I am pleased to announce that the registration for the 2016 IRC Study Tour to the Netherlands, to take place June 12 – 18, 2016, and be centered in Amsterdam, is now open.  To register, please see  http://www.arlisna.org/studytour2016-Netherlands

 

Preliminary information about the tour is now posted, and planning is well advanced.  The trip will introduce participants to art libraries and archives in Amsterdam, Rotterdam,  Utrecht, and The Hague.  The various libraries will present themselves on the basis of their distinguishing characteristics, be it the building, the collection, a new way of thinking or working.  There are also parts of the program dealing with non-library issues such as architecture or exhibitions. The itinerary will include a half-day symposium during which librarians will profile recent research and emerging trends. 

 

If you are interested in the tour, please visit the registration site as soon as possible, and register before the January 15, 2016 application deadline. A deposit of $300 will be requested at the time of registering.   The cost of this trip will be the responsibility of the participant.  Airfare can be anticipated to range, depending upon the airline and point of departure, between $1100 and $1500, round trip. Hotel rooms will cost approximately $150-$200 per night (depending on single or double occupancy and the inclusion of breakfast) for a minimum of six nights.  As confirmations of registration are received, the organizing committee will forward information needed to make a reservation at the group hotel.
