Hi everybody!
Good news for special collections & art cataloguers: the JSC approved CCC/16, a proposal which recommends adding alternatives in the instructions for transcription of punctuation and symbols to allow some flexibility to omit or to replace punctuation or symbols to improve clarity.

The Cataloging Advisory Committee of ARLIS/NA, as well as our colleagues from RBMS, had made favourable comments about this proposal (http://alcts.ala.org/ccdablog/?p=2257). We trust that these modifications to RDA 1.7.3 and 1.7.5 will be greatly helpful to cataloguers dealing with non-traditional formats!
