Good news for special collections & art cataloguers: the JSC approved CCC/16, a proposal which recommends adding alternatives in the instructions for transcription of punctuation and symbols to allow some flexibility to omit or to replace punctuation or symbols to improve clarity. http://sites.psu.edu/jscblog/2015/11/04/joint-steering-committee-meeting-november-4-2015/ The Cataloging Advisory Committee of ARLIS/NA, as well as our colleagues from RBMS, had made favourable comments about this proposal (http://alcts.ala.org/ccdablog/?p=2257). We trust that these modifications to RDA 1.7.3 and 1.7.5 will be greatly helpful to cataloguers dealing with non-traditional formats!
