Hello,
Have any of the academic librarians on the list made use of reference point-of-service guide sheets, to serve as a takeaway for students and to structure the research consultation?
It would seem valuable to the student to have a document of their conversation with the librarian, and for both student and librarian to have a compact reminder of the whole range of resources.
Then, from the point of view that the reference process is a form of instruction, and, given the established neccessity of assessment for instruction, the reference interaction might also be considered "assessable."
I developed a form that we are now testing at the MICA library, with the following sections, laid out on a 3.5 x 5.25 inch slip of paper. The back of the slip is blank for notes.
