Hi everyone,

I am currently working on a strategy for the future of our museum library.  We are putting forth a quite drastic plan and idea to better align ourselves with our museums strategic plan and vision.  I am interested in hearing if your library has gone through any significant transitions in the last 5-10 years.

Things I am particularly interested in:

Have you been threatened with closure?  Why?

Have you been downsized in space, collection or staff?

Have you rightsized your space, collection or staff in an effort to serve a new or refined purpose?

Have you significantly changed the purpose and goals of your library? (possible to shift focus to a new or different patron base?)

Has your library made a significant move (into our out of the museum?)

Or have you had discussions about any of the above?

Also, if anyone has been involved with a library that has closed, or knows details about any of the museum library closures that have happened over the last 5 years or so, I would love to hear from you.  I know about a few (Dayton Institute of Art, High Museum...) but don't really know any details.

Thank you!!!
