Arts Librarian for Digital and Access Services - Haas Arts Library/Yale University Library, New Haven, CT

 

Position Focus: The Arts Librarian for Digital and Access Services provides leadership for digital services as part of the Yale University Arts Library's access services program. In collaboration with the Arts Library management team, coordinates all aspects of access services including circulation, course reserves (including digital image and streaming services), resource sharing, collection maintenance, privileges, and security. May supervise 1-3 support staff in the Access Services Unit. Takes the lead role in the creation and maintenance of web-deliverable information that supports existing public and digital services and develops service innovations utilizing technologies and customer service expertise. Reporting to the Assistant Director for Public Services of the Arts Library, the Arts Librarian for Digital and Access Services works in a distributed and innovative environment with librarians as well as technology, course support, and preservation experts both within the Arts Library and other departments across campus. The Arts Librarian for Digital and Access Services also provides public services using a wide range of resources, including local and remote online databases, superb paper-based collections, and instructional and information technologies. Specific assignments will be established with the Director of the Arts Library, through periodic goal setting and reviews, and may involve a broad range of duties.

Required Education, Skills and Experience: Master's degree from an ALA-accredited library school.

·         Demonstrated record of designing projects and bringing them to a conclusion in a timely fashion; experience with web-based projects.

·         Demonstrated ability with library public services.

·         Demonstrated ability with management of digital resources, including digital image collections, Omeka, and/or Libguides.

Preferred Education, Skills and Experience: Advanced degree in the visual arts, art history, or architecture. Experience in an academic library; experience with Drupal, HTML, XML and Artstor; experience with reference and instruction in an academic library setting; experience supervising staff and student workers.
