DIGITAL DIRECTIONS:
Fundamentals of Creating and Managing Digital Collections
August 3-5, Raleigh, North Carolina

Are you new to managing digital collections? Need a refresher? Or are you well into a digital project and want to confirm you are on the right track?  The Digital Directions program offers two and a half days of focused instruction on creating and managing digital collections. You will come away with an understanding of concepts and processes, as well as the language you need to make a case for a digitization project or a fundraising initiative at your institution.

PAST DIGITAL DIRECTIONS PARTICIPANTS COMMENT:

- Most valuable for me: Making connections with colleagues doing similar work; learning about recently developed standards, best practices, and recommendations; learning about digital project tools (especially application-agnostic general purpose tools), and hearing about case studies, especially lessons learned.

- Very useful that the presentations work for participants in the "real world" where resources and time are limiting. I work within a limited horizon - you hit the sweet spot of needs / practical options.

- Attending the conference reinforced guiding principles and policies for past and current work and provided current best practices and standards. This will help update our vocabulary in doing program advocacy and fundraising.
