Dear Rebecca, and the entire ARLIS/NA community,

Thank you for your post and question as to whether or not ARLIS/NA is pursuing a response to the CAA code.

Indeed, as Patti Cossard mentioned in her email, the ARLIS/NA Public Policy Committee has been studying the code and presented a statement to the ARLIS/NA Executive Board during the board's May meeting. The board is now in the process of reading and considering the PPC's response to the CAA code and will discuss it in full during our June meeting. As soon as the response is ready we will inform the Society.

If anyone has any questions please feel free to contact me directly.

Sincerely,
Kristen Regina
President, ARLIS/NA

All,

I just finished attending some webinars on the CAA Code of Best Practices, and there does look to be some opportunity to use the code to justify making bigger claims of Fair Use in our work as librarians and also in the advice we provide to faculty and students.

CAA is looking for groups that might "endorse" the code. I wonder if this is something ARLIS/NA is pursuing?

Best,
