Makerspaces are DIY spaces where people can gather to create, invent, and learn. In libraries, they may have 3D printers, software, electronics, craft and hardware supplies and tools, among other things.  We are looking to put together a panel of about 4 people with varied experiences with makerspaces: We’d like to hear about makerspaces located in or affiliated with libraries and visual resource centers and stand-alone centers, use case scenarios related to the arts, and how to set up and/or advocate for such spaces.

In particular, we’re looking for:

-       - How makerspaces can serve artists or faculty and students in art and design disciplines.

-       - Suggestions on developing makerspaces within an institution (such as low cost solutions, gathering support, what equipment to purchase, etc.). Case studies also welcome.

-       - Makerspaces local to Seattle or the PNW to highlight the region.

If      If interested, please contact Courtney Baron ([log in to unmask]) or Marsha Taichman ([log in to unmask]) by next Tuesday, June 23 with preliminary ideas.
