Try the Grove Dictionary of Art.  I don’t have access to it here, but I know that it has an excellent history of auction catalogs and I would assume it also has a good history of exhibition catalogs.  --Joan

Hello collective wisdom,

I'm forwarding on this query from another listserv, about good sources for a history of exhibition catalogues. And Canadian war art in particular!

If you could reply directly to Alicia, she would appreciate it.

Cheers!

Hi All,

I'm working on compiling a brief history of exhibition catalogues and I could use some assistance locating sources.  I'm writing specifically on exhibition catalogues of Canadian war art of the First World War, but would like to provide a general overview of catalogue history first.  Any information regarding catalogues in general or Canadian war art in particular would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for your help,

Alicia
