The Art Canada Institute proudly announces the publication of
Pitseolak Ashoona: Life & Work by Christine Lalonde
One of the first Inuit artists to begin making drawings in the early 1960s, Pitseolak Ashoona (c. 1904–1983) documented traditional daily life and legends in over 8,000 images, inspiring countless Inuit artists in her wake. She was awarded the Order of Canada in 1977 for her work. Christine Lalonde is Curator of Indigenous Art, National Gallery of Canada. |
