Sorry for joining the conversation so late, but I have been in the process of retiring : ) My office is now empty, and many but not all retirement details have been attended to, so I can start thinking about life-after-retirement. I would like to return to the issue Suzy brought up (via MLA): why would I attend aside from seeing friends (which is a pretty powerful motive). I find myself moving to a personal space, in the context of the professional space others have mentioned. I would be interested in learning about aspects of art and architecture I didn't have time to pursue before. For instance, how is creativity generated and expressed? ARLIS has always had an interest in the artistic endeavors of its members. Retirement offers at least the possibility of others, like myself, exploring those realms. Programming and discussions around these topics would be a draw for me!
