Sales catalogs for the donor's purchase, then go from there? If it was an estate bequest, perhaps it is a will (which would be public documents). He thinks it might have been donated to a Massachusetts museum sometime after 1910. Is anyone aware of a good way of searching donor information for museums aside from individual museum archives?
