The Thomas J. Watson Library in The Metropolitan Museum of Art is seeking candidates for the position of
Assistant/Associate Museum Librarian for Reference.
This position provides reference and research service to museum staff and outside researchers and is actively involved in library instruction, library orientations for new staff, fellows and other researchers,
and in-depth consultations and presentations on library resources. In addition to playing a key role in reference and research services, this position will play a leadership role within the newly reorganized public services operation and will oversee programmatic
areas including circulation, stacks management and offsite storage. This position facilitates access to the collections by coordinating circulation and access policies; manages collection space planning; serves on a team that coordinates the preservation of
the library's print collection; and participates in the development of new services and ongoing assessment. This position requires high level knowledge of print and electronic resources in art history and the humanities; a strong commitment to public services
coupled with a vision for using emerging technologies; and skills in evidence based decision practices to develop and implement the highest standards of service. It will be filled at a level commensurate with the candidate's experience and qualifications.
