LIS Microaggressions is soliciting Post-it submissions to be
collected and included in our first ever LIS Microaggressions zine,
which will be distributed at the upcoming ARLIS, ACRL, and REFORMA conferences this month. This zine will also be available for download on our site!
Definition:
Microaggressions are brief and commonplace daily verbal, behavioral, or
environmental indignities, whether intentional or unintentional, that
communicate hostile, derogatory, or negative racial slights and insults
toward individuals from marginalized communities. Microaggressions can
be difficult to identify because they are more nuanced, subtle forms of
prejudice. They may arise from the language we use with our peers, the
assumptions we make of others, or perceived compliments.
Submissions: Snail mail your Post-it submission to the address below postmarked by Friday, March 13th. Please write or draw your microaggression on a Post-it (or plain paper) no larger than 3x3. Submissions can be anonymous, or feel free to include your name/pseudonym/handle/etc. The zine will be constructed by LIS Microaggressions editors, like our ALA 2014 poster but in zine form!
