The Art and Picture Collections at Mid-Manhattan Library present Plastic Age: Further Removed and Plastic Age: Video and Sculpture two site-specific exhibitions of photographs, video and sculpture by artist, and art Professor Barbara Madsen.

Her collections of cast off industrial matter of spark plugs, machine parts, welding masks, light switches, rubber, plastic, prosthetics, artificial eyes, and much more serve as Dadaist fodder. Madsen’s photographs, mine the reproduction of the object. She builds models for these objects to inhabit and re-photographs them, further removing them from their original context, conflating space and scale.

These exhibitions are part of Barbara Madsen’s larger site-specific exhibition Plastic Age: IN/OUT in the Corner Room on the 1st floor.

Art in the Corner Room, Art in the Windows and Photo Walls in Picture Collection exhibitions series are curated by Arezoo Moseni.
