The New York Public Library, the International Center of Photography (ICP), and the Council for Photography from Japan (CPJ) are pleased to announce the Shashin Festival <http://www.photographyfromjapan.com/> to be held in New York in April. Shashin is a multi-institution program aimed to raise awareness of photography from Japan, foster an exchange, and stimulate discussion in multiple segments: Academics, students, art collectors, researchers, artists, photographers, Japanophiles, and the general public. The festival’s main event is a two-day symposium at the New York Public Library of panels and artists' presentation on *April 24th and 25th*. Registration (free) for the symposium is available here <http://www.nypl.org/events/programs/2015/04/24/shashin-photography-japan>. Additional events begin on *April 18th* and are listed here <http://www.photographyfromjapan.com/events-1/>. Concurrently, there will be many exhibitions showcasing photography from Japan in New York and regionally: a growing list is available on the main Shashin Festival website <http://www.photographyfromjapan.com/new-page/>. On behalf of my colleagues at ICP and CPJ, we look forward to seeing you in New York in April. http://www.photographyfromjapan.com/ http://www.nypl.org/events/programs/2015/04/24/shashin-photography-japan -- Ryan Haley Librarian, Art & Architecture Collection New York Public Library Stephen A.
