Still pondering this year’s ARLIS/NA conference?  Jolt yourself out of the deep freeze and register now because it is a conference you certainly will want to attend!

If you belong to the Society Circle or are thinking of joining to support budding ARLIS/NA members in their career endeavors, the members’ reception<http://arlisna2015.sched.org/event/aec8836258eeac2920ece5f223ed392c#.VOurGcag2nc> is a chance to mix and mingle with other art professionals.  Held this year at the beautiful Café Modern at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth on Thursday, March 19th, this event includes cocktails and hors d’oeuvres from the restaurant’s sustainable menu of artisan vendors and a half hour tour of the museum’s permanent collection.

In the evening, all members have an opportunity to relax and enjoy one of the city’s most significant site offering. On Friday, March 20th, do not miss the Welcome Reception<http://arlisna2015.sched.org/event/0b36351ea675b1f06562029a8d79b719#.VOurk8ag2nc> held on the events plaza steps away from the Omni and at the base of the Fort Worth’s lush Water Gardens – Phillip Johnson’s architectural feat of three tiered fountains. The membership brunch and meeting will take place on Sunday, March 22nd at the Omni Hotel.  This year’s guest speaker at the brunch<http://arlisna2015.sched.org/event/29cdc9785d9ffbdc84f15795a3b2a1a6#.VOur18ag2nc>, Ronnie Self, Associate Professor of Architecture at the University of Houston, will discuss the two buildings of the Kimbell Art Museum – the Kahn building and the Renzo Piano Pavilion.  Immediately following the brunch, at the meeting<http://arlisna2015.sched.org/event/e203732c98106a2bdc4efda04f9f1fa9#.VOusnsag2nc>, President Carole Ann Fabian will preside over the Society’s business and welcome the new Executive Board officers for 2015.

And two final events you will not want to pass up on Sunday, March 22nd -  ARLIS/NA will hold its convocation<http://arlisna2015.sched.org/event/d694b92a106a481bb5866f7621ff016e#.VOuuisag2nc> at the Omni Hotel with guest speaker, Mari Carmen Ramirez, the Wortham Curator of Latin American Art and Director of the International Center for the Arts of the Americas (ICAA) at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.  Ramirez is an internationally known scholar on Latin American art and has lectured widely and passionately on this subject. Following the convocation, buses outside the hotel depart promptly at 7:15 for a short trip over to the Kimbell Art Museum’s Renzo Piano Pavilion for the reception<http://arlisna2015.sched.org/event/c7f485fa7055876c7a6dba5344cae83f>.  This new wing of the Museum and its internationally renown collection is slightly over a year old and sited directly across from Kahn’s iconic building completed in 1972.
