Does anyone have suggestions for a more recent alternative to John Harthan, The history of the illustrated book: the Western tradition (London: Thames and Hudson, 1981; paperback edition, 1997) for an introductory course on book illustration history in the West?

Or is Harthan still the winner when it comes to a reasonably affordable fully-illustrated survey of the topic?

Thanks!

Erin.
