Once more I am sending a query to our “Collective Wisdom”…
Our library has recently received a donation of material that had been abandoned at our Art History Department by a long departed instructor. It consists of small exhibition catalogs, artists’ books, a few issues of now defunct magazines,
and ephemera, mostly from the years between 1968 and 1975. All together I count them as 42. Many of them are dealing with conceptual art and artists, some in English, others in German , Dutch or Italian. They are all in very good shape. I found about 28
of them in Bookfinder, listed with very few offers and with prices varying between $48 and $1,300. I checked Worldcat and some appear owned by only one or two libraries.
We really do not have any use for those items in our collection, and it would be nice to follow the suggestion of the donor by selling the collection, preferably as a whole. We could offer them at auction, but I would like to know if we
have other options.
I shall be retiring from my position very soon , so if someone has an answer and prefers to contact our library rather than the list, our Director Randi Ashton-Pritting ([log in to unmask])
or Cyndi McCluggage (cmacclugg@hartford.edu) will be in charge. Cyndi will monitor the list…
Thanks to everyone, I enjoyed ARLIS and the Arlisians, and I shall not be far…
