Please excuse duplication; posting sent to multiple lists.

Hello,

We are rethinking our treatment of the pocket versions of the catalogs that accompany some of the large auction sales catalogs from Christies and Sotheby's.

These small catalogs (20-21 cm) generally contain illustrations, lot numbers, titles, artists, and prices, but do not contain the full descriptive information from the larger version of the catalog.  Some of them specifically state on the title page: "This is not a catalog for the auction ... this summary is provided as a courtesy .. see the catalog for full descriptions ..." etc.

In the past, we added them to our collection as supplements to the catalogs which they accompanied, but we've been thinking about no longer doing that, as they do not provide any additional information to what is in the full catalog.

What do you do with these? Add them as supplements? Toss them? Set them out for library patrons to take away?

You may reply to me on or off list, and I will be happy to summarize any responses that I get.

Thank you!
