We're aiming to fix it in the next release, which is scheduled for October; in the meanwhile, filtering your results (http://artstor.wordpress.com/2014/07/30/narrow-your-results-and-find-what-youre-looking-for/) and using wildcards in your searches can help (http://artstor.wordpress.com/2012/09/11/four-easy-tricks-to-help-you-search-the-artstor-digital-library/). We realize those are workarounds and that they're not ideal. We hope to have the issue resolved very soon. Stipends are awarded to historians in the fields of art, architecture and design, literature, music and photography. I reported the problem and they responded by noting that their advanced search is indeed broken and they are working to build a fix which will be released with a new site at the end of the month.
