All, I am sending the following announcement on behalf of Yelena Luckert, our Head of Research Services. -Patti Cossard Dear Colleagues, I would like to use this opportunity to update you on the changes that are taking place at the University of Maryland Art and Architecture Libraries. The Art and Architecture Libraries have been reporting to me since July 1, 2013, a result of the internal reorganization of our Public Services Division. As of July 1, 2013 Cindy Frank has been serving as our Architecture Librarian. Cindy has an advance degree in Architecture and a long term history with the University of Maryland School of Architecture. Starting this month Patti Kosco Cossard is going to serve as our Art Librarian. Patti has an advanced degree in Medieval Studies with strong emphasis on art and architecture. She served as our Architecture Librarian until July 1, 2013, when she assumed responsibilities for the development of the University of Maryland Libraries Research Commons. Both Patti and Cindy are strongly committed to the research and information needs of our faculty and students, and have been proactive in all areas of subject librarianship, including reference/research support, teaching and collection development. Beginning in July 2014 and through the coming year, both Art and Architecture Libraries began the transition from full-service libraries to a scaled down model focusing on liaison services and delivery of collections. We are emphasizing and building up our liaison services, departmental delivery of materials, kiosks and reserves, information and visual literacies, and full participation in the Libraries Research Commons. As we know, transitions are both challenging and exciting. The University of Maryland Libraries is strongly committed to the services and collections that we are providing to our faculty and students, and in the coming weeks and months we will be working on developing details for the new model that we hope will enhance, not take away, from our user experience.
